Shinrin-Yoku is a Japanese tradition that translates literally as "forest bathing". Now there are no forest showers at Your Hidden Garden, however guest room showers do actually open into their private gardens, which look out into the thick forest, so technically ... .
What forest bathing actually is though, is an eco-wellness technique that, through the immersion of oneself into a natural setting of sights, sounds, textures and smells, provides a spiritual connection to the surrounding nature. Or as we like to call it, holding hands with God. The Japanese believe it to be both therapeutic, as well as enlightening, and so do we.
For some, it is a quiet chair in the forest, reflecting and listening to nothing but the birds and the breeze blowing through the trees, with the smell of pines all around you, as you watch hummingbirds and butterflies enjoy your flower garden. For others it might be some yoga in a quiet setting or strumming their guitar to nature's tune, instead of their own for a change. Or maybe it is just laying naked and natural under the sun or moonlight on your garden day bed with the one you love. Even fire, another natural element, can be enjoyed around an evening firepit where the nighttime sounds of nature are amazing!
There are lots of ways to enjoy a shinrin-yoku experience, you just need the right natural ambiance. The immersion or connection into that ambiance is both a spiritual and magical experience, and one all should enjoy. Nature can sooth and relax you, talk to you, amaze you and even humble you, if you can just find a place to connect in a way that works for you. That's Shinrin-Yoku, and that's Your Hidden Garden B&B.
